Foam Roller For Trigger Point Therapy

On any given day I'm going to have a variety of pain and sore muscles.  Some days it's from exercise.  Every day I have one pain that I've learned to deal with. I had an epidural with my first 3 children.  My 2nd and 3rd children the epidural hurt my back.  I wasn't able to arch my back at all for the first year after both children.  13 and almost 11 years later, I still have a lot of lower back pain.  It gets better with some exercise.  I no longer cry out when rolling over in bed.  I still have a lot of trouble lifting my right leg when laying on my back.

I've recently found something that really has helped my back. It's a huge help for me.  The Foam Roller from GR8 Goodz is a recent addition to my exercise and health items.

It is one of those items that is great because it's hard enough to get the job done well, yet has just enough give to make it feel good.
My biggest trigger points are my calves, quads, and my lower back.  It's easy to use.  Put it on the point you need to work, and slowly move in one direction to massage that area. Try to relax your muscles as you do this.

With my lower back, sometimes I'll just let it push for a moment on that spot to stretch it for a moment. Then slowly roll in one direction.  Oh!  My back has been feeling so much better!  This is especially great after I do my yoga (as I had done in these pictures).

There are so many ways to use the foam roller.  A few are pictured here.

A few notes from GR8 Goodz:

These steps promote safety and effectiveness, if followed correctly. Massage any given trigger point no more than 15-20 seconds and then move one. The purpose is to allow the body to promote healing.
Impatience or too much pressure is counterproductive and causes more pain.

  1. Use deep stroking massage, not static pressure.
  2. Massage with short, repeated strokes.
  3. Do the massage stroke in one direction only.
  4. Do the massage stroke slowly.
  5. Use a foam roller or ball on large muscles, if possible, and save your hands.
  6. Aim at a pain level of five to seven on a one to ten scale.
  7. Limit massage to six to twelve strokes per trigger point.
  8. Work trigger point three to six times per day.
  9. If you get no relief, you may be working on the wrong spot.

This has been such a relief for me.  I'm able to get relief when my back starts to hurt.  I really do love the foam roller.

A Great Beard Oil Brush For Your Bearded Man

If you know a man with a beard, read on. CanYouHandlebar has a great beard brush for the hairy men in your life.

This brush came just in time to use with the liquid beard oil and beard dry oil.  It's somewhat soft bristled so it gently brushes the oils through the beard hair.  The bush base is wood and bristles are made of horse hair.  The natural bristles are so much better for hair than synthetic materials.

My husband has a small stash of his beard care items, and has really lived how nice his beard is looking.  He will put a little bit of oil on and then brush it into his beard.  It leaves a nice shine, and a great scent when using the scented oils.  The brush gently massages his skin, allowing the oils to soak in and penetrate his chin and cheeks to moisturize his skin as well as his beard.

If you would like a beard brush for your bearded man for a gift (Father's Day is really not too far away), you can find it HERE

Argan Oil for Skin and Hair

Argan oil is know as 'liquid gold'. It is the oil produced from the kernels from the Argan tree.  Some regions, such as Morocco, they use Argan oil for their foods.  It's quickly becoming popular around the world for it's amazing health benefits for skin and hair.

I was surprised at how much I like this Argan Oil from Skinology. The bottle is a good size. 4 oz will last a long time. I love that it is organic. I try to use organic products as much as possible. The oil itself it really nice on both my hair and my skin. After my shower I will put just a little bit on my hands. I rub my hands together and scrunch the Argan oil from the tips to the roots. It really helps my dry and brittle hair. It also seems to add some shine to my hair, giving it a little glisten.

As for my skin, I love to put a few drops on my hands and run the Argan oil into my hands, arms, feet, behind my knees, and anywhere that gets dry. It is the most amazing moisturizer.

If you would like to try Skinology Argan Oil for yourself, you can find them HERE on Amazon.

Adovia Dead Sea Bath Salt Soak

Do you ever have those days where you are just so tired and worn down?  Days that your body feels like it's been beaten?  Days that you are overcome with stress?
Yeah, me too.  I have recently discovered a great way to soak away my stress and sore muscles.

Have you ever tried a Salt soak?  It's really amazing.  You can do this for your entire body, or just a specific part... like your sore and overworked feet.

Adovia Dead Sea Bath Salts are so easy to use.  I put 1/2 cup into my bath water as it's filling.  I swish it around until it dissolves, which is rather quickly.  Then I climb in and soak.  This is just wonderful for the days where I'm just so exhausted from a full day of chasing kids around and hard exercise.  It also is great for detoxing your body. It will pull the toxins through your skin and help you feel amazing.

The Adovia Dead Sea Bath Salts I used were unscented.  Just pure sea salts.  You can easily add a few drops of lavender essential oils, lavender blossoms, or rose water to your bath water for a lovely added scent.

If you would like to purchase Adovia Dead Sea Bath Salts, you can find them HERE on Amazon

A Perfect Cup Of Coffee

My morning coffee is somewhat of a necessity.  It gets me moving in the morning, and gives me enough brain power to get the jump start I need for breakfast, lunch, homeschooling, cleaning, dinner, and everything else I need to do during the day.

The necessities for my coffee:
A good coffee bean
A cup

Thankfully I have all 3 of those.  I have my Subtle Earth Organic Coffee.  It is a Honduran Marcala medium-dark roast.  It has a delicious bold and smooth milk chocolate flavor, including times of honey, caramel, and cocoathat I just absolutely love.  The smell is just the most amazing.  I love to just pick up the bag and breathe in.  I have a weakness for the smell of coffee.  The beans are a beautiful, glistening black/brown.  Fresh roasted and great oil content.  It is a great pick me up in the morning.  It is also certified organic by CCOF.

My MIRA Coffee Press is a perfect size for one person.  It holds 12oz of water, which is the perfect amount for me. It is a heavy duty stainless steel.  If you saw my post a few months ago about my ceramic French Press, you will know how perfect this is for me. It is virtually unbreakable.  My favorite part about this press is that it is insulated. I forgot about it doing so well at keeping my coffee hot.  On my second cup, I took a quick drink.  Surprise!  It was still just as hot as the first!  Oops!

Last, my cute Espresso Cup & Saucer from Francois et Mimi.  This came in a set of 4.  It is so perfect for a small cup of coffee. To just sit and enjoy your morning.  These are a beautiful white color.  They are lead free, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe. They are a good fit for your hand, and make my morning feel a little more elegant.

Here is how I make my perfect cup of coffee.

Grind 3-4 Tbsp Subtle Earth Organic Coffee Beans to a course grind.
Add coffee grounds to the MIRA coffee press

Boil 12oz water and add it to the MIRA coffee press.  Stir and put lid on.  Do not depress plunger. Just gently set it on to cover the coffee. Set timer for 4 minutes.
I will stir once every minute.
After the 4 minutes is up, gently press the plunger down, and then pour the coffee into the Francois et Mimi cup

Add a little sugar and cream.

Enjoy your morning (or afternoon) coffee.

If you would like to find purchase any of these, you can find them at the links below.

A Stylus, Pen, Lazer Pointer, and Flashlight All In One

I was able to try out the 4-in-1 TurboPen from Minzos.  This is a pretty awesome pen.

This is a pen that is really helpful in do many ways.  The stylus is a great quality that works perfectly on a tablet or touchscreen.

The flashlight is bright enough that you can use it when in need of light.  It has a button on the side of the pen that is easily pushed to turn the flashlight on.

The lazer pointer is something that would be perfect for a presentation.  Since it's part of your pen, it is easily carried with you.  It has a button next to the flashlight button (make sure you push the correct one) that turns the lazer pointer on. It's bright and works from a distance.

Then there is the ballpoint pen.  Just remove the stylus cap from the pen, an you'll find your ballpoint pen underneath.

It is a really handy 4-in-1 that I have enjoyed using.  If you are looking for a multipurpose pen/stylus, you can find Minzos HERE

Ancient Feminine Wisdom

I started out not knowing what exactly to expect from this book.  As I opened it up and began reading, I found I couldn't pull myself away from it very easily.  I kept finding myself thinking of the women of the Bible, and how they have inspired me.

Ancient Feminine Wisdom by Judith Jungman Saadon is a fascinating book.  She has a way of bringing forth the women of the Bible and getting you to think of them in a different light.

As I read each section I was able to understand each women in a different perspective.  I was able to basically put myself in that place, and see how I am effected by the same situation today.

Each section goes through a piece of the life of one of the women.  Eve, Sarah, Hagar, Rachel, Leah, Tamar, Hannah, Naomi, and Esther.  You go into a chapter of the woman's life, are shown the strength of that woman.  Then you are asked questions pertaining to yourself and that woman.  How can you invite her into your life to change how you need in order to better yourself?

This really is a great book.  And one I'm reading over to get a great perspective on these Biblical Women, as well as myself.

Baking Cookies Without The Guesswork

My kids love cookies.  They also love helping to make cookies.  The hardest part about letting them help is getting them to space out the cookies the correct distance.  There's nothing more interesting than cookies that have run into one another to make a giant cookie. Ha ha ha.

I was able to get a Silicone Baking Mat from BakeItFun to review.  I have really enjoyed using my baking mat. It fits great in my cookie sheet.  The biggest thing I love is how it has the spots printed in the mat to show where to put the cookies. There is no guesswork as to how far to space each cookie.

We added an extra on the bottom.

With the nonstick silicon material the cookies will not stick. You just put the cookies on and they come right off after cooling a minute.

I am so happy it was able to try it in exchange for a review. We made cookies last night and my little kids were able to scoop the dough and place it on the mat because they knew right where to put it. It was so fun. If you are in need (or want) of a good silicone baking mat, you can find BakeItFun's mat HERE.

I used a recipe I found from Cooks.com (HERE).

1 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 c. butter, softened*
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
2 c. whole M&M'S® plain candies
Preheat oven to 375°F.Beat sugars and butter in large bowl on medium speed until fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in vanilla and eggs; beat in flour, salt and baking soda on low speed. Stir in candies. Drop dough by teaspoon about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with fork.Bake until edges are light brown, 8 to 11 minutes. Let stand 3 to 4 minutes before removing from cookie sheet.Cookies made with butter will flatten more and tend to be somewhat darker along the edges, but are more flavorful. Watch carefully to prevent burning. If you prefer higher cookies that spread less, vegetable shortening may be substituted for the butter, or use half of each. A higher temperature (400°F will help cookies set before spreading).

A Hard Case For Her 3DS

Over the summer my 2 oldest girls got their Nintendo 3DS game systems.  They love their game systems.  The younger of the 2 didn't get a case for her 3DS.  She had only been using a little purse to keep her system and games in.  That is, until I surprised her with my new review item.

My daughter loves her 3DS case from Technoskin! The hard case is very protective for her 3DS. It has room for all her games, plus more. She only has a few games, but she can now keep them all together in their own spot. Her 3DS fits great in the case.

We tried it with the charger.  Unfortunately, there just isn't quite enough room for her charger. It won't quite close enough to zip up.

The zipper works without great snagging. The stitching is great. It seems to be very good quality. The carry straps are removable if you don't want them on. They are also a good length that allows the case to be carried easily like a purse, and can be lengthened or shortened according to what you desire.  It's a great product, and provides great protection for both the system and the games.

If you are in need of a great hard case for your Nintendo DS, you can find Technoskin HERE on Amazon.
